You are greeted by a sculpture of David of Michelangelo, which is like a narrative and tells the story of the destroyed White Villa.
White Villa was an eclectic home of one of the most famous architects of the interwar period, Feliksas Vizbaras. In his professional life, Feliksas drew expressive Art Deco and modernist lines that rose into the magnificent architectural monuments of Kaunas Central Post Office, palaces, and villas, now inscribed on the prestigious European Cultural Heritage List. At home, however, Feliksas practiced architectural jazz.
…he experimented with forms, patterns, and textures in his own residence. Feliksas Vizbaras’ White Villa did not leave anyone indifferent – for 3 years, Balys Sruoga cursed it fiercely for being a stylistic patchwork while others loved it.
At the Architect’s Apartment Nō1, you will discover a lot of architectural experiments. The play of arches, sculptures, patterns, and textures. On the contrary, everything is framed by a monochrome palette. Have wonderful dreams sleeping under the canopy on the extremely breathable mattress by Lonas.
We hope that this inspiring atmosphere will take you to the legendary White Villa.
